The initiative aims to minimize the carbon and water footprint in the drinking water supply chain, integrating innovative methods that contribute to improving the quality of life and providing high-level services to citizens.

Through the exchange of best practices and experiences among EU member states, the project strengthens environmental policy at local and regional levels, supporting the development of strategies for sustainable water resource management.

By focusing on innovation, enhanced transparency and the active engagement of stakeholders are ensured, thereby promoting improved governance and policy implementation monitoring.

Finally, FRESHNESS aligns with the objectives of the European Strategy for Climate Change and Energy Efficiency, as well as the EU Water Framework Directive 2000/60/EC.

Its completion with innovative practices promotes environmental awareness among citizens, enabling a more sustainable management of water resources and the implementation of new approaches that enhance the resilience of water supply systems and promote long-term sustainability.
