The mission and goals of DEYAK are to serve the residents of our city and the thousands of tourists who visit it every year by providing abundant and clean water.
- Wastewater collection and treatment.
- The construction of major infrastructure projects related to water supply and sewerage.
- Environmental protection and the prompt service of our fellow citizens/consumers.
- The protection of groundwater resources.
- The reuse of treated wastewater from the Biological Treatment Plant for irrigation.
- The construction of the necessary water supply networks and other facilities for a more rational distribution of drinking water.
- The completion of leak detection and control in existing water supply networks.
- The rational use of personnel and machinery to reduce the cost of the services provided.
- The use of the most technologically advanced methods constitute the immediate goals of D.E.Y.A.K.
Although D.E.Y.A.K. is a legal entity under private law whose revenues—under Law 1069/80—are reciprocal, it does not limit itself to the role defined by the legislator. That is, while it ensures the provision of services regarding both the supply of sufficient and healthy water to the citizens and the collection and treatment of wastewater to protect the environment, it simultaneously implements a social policy. It applies special, low water tariffs to large families (with many children) as well as families with people with disabilities. Furthermore, it treats cases of underprivileged families and individuals with particular sensitivity.

Role and Contribution of D.E.Y.A. of the Municipality of Kos to the FRESHNESS Project
The department responsible for the preparation and implementation of the relevant actions of the project is the Technical Services Directorate of DEYAK, assisted by the following sub-departments:
a) Water Supply of the Municipal Units of Kos, Dikaios & Irakleides,
b) Electromechanical Installations, Automation & Equipment, and
c) Consumers.
Through its participation in the FRESHNESS project, DEYAK of the Municipality of Kos aims to improve existing water supply network infrastructures. This will be achieved by exchanging experience and expertise with the other involved partners, and through the implementation of a pilot action focusing on the installation of a fixed-network AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) system. This system will be capable of providing real-time, accurate qualitative and quantitative data for the purpose of saving energy and water resources, as well as optimizing network operations. The installation of local and portable control stations, in addition to the installation of repeaters and data concentrators for digital water meters, ultimately aims to positively influence consumer behavior.
